Road Helmets
The lightweight, aerodynamic road cycling helmets offered by Tour Cycling are safe, protective and fast. The Kask, Lazer, Louis Garneau and Smith road helmets have been designed for the racer who takes risks on the bike with other riders who are all punching with leg power for a win. Tour Cycling offers helmets to connect cyclists with their passion of not just racing but also of riding a road or cross bike as a form of transportation from home to work or cruising through the countryside on a weekend fun ride. Taking care of your head should be the part of your body you care for the most when riding over pavement. For safety purposes, it is recommended you replace your helmet every 5 years or after a major crash to maximize on a helmet’s safety features.
The Kask helmets have an inner frame that ensures the helmet doesn’t shatter in case of impact. To better improve shock absorption “in moulding” technology joins the inner polystyrene cap to the outer polycarbonate cap. To bring greater visibility, the high visibility stickers on Kask helmets make it safer to share the road with cars. Kask helmets fit to the exact shape of a rider’s head. Fit can be adjusted with the up-and-down adjustment system along with the back of the head cradled by straps which can be tightened by a central ratchet wheel. While these adjustments are complex, making the adjustment is simple. Besides getting a good fit, Kask added a gel lining to the inner side of the helmet which provides a comfortable close fitting helmet. Adding to the comfort is an environmentally sound washable chin strap.
Each helmet varies in the amount of vents. Helmets such as the Kask Vertigo helmet have 24 vents while helmets like the Lazer Blade Fast Helmet are designed to allow air to flow through a limited number of side and top vents. The Lazer Blade Fast Helmet is an exceptionally aerodynamic helmet with a shortened tear drop shape that is aero enough for a time trial but still maintains the shape of a road helmet. For kids, the Lazer P’Nuts and Youth Nuts helmets provide lightweight safe coverage for a young cyclist. Every year thousands of Lazer helmets are tested by certified labs to ensure they protect the head on impact in all temperatures and climates.
The Smith Bike Helmets are made with Smith Koroyd material and traditional expanded Polystyrene foam (EPS). The result of this combination is the creation of helmets that absorb impact and allow air to circulate so the head stays cool and ventilated. These helmets absorb 30% more impact than the international standard. Smith found a way to provide the most amount of ventilation and safety with the least amount of weight.
